Special Provisions and Definitions

 

In this Constitution, except where the context forbids, words signifying males are intended to include females and words implying the singular number are intended to include the plural number, and vice versa.

 

 

"Council" shall mean the Council constituted under Clause 3 of this Constitution.

The terms "approved" "recognised" and "acceptable" shall mean approved by, recognised by and acceptable to Council unless the context denotes otherwise.

The term "member" shall mean a member of any grade of membership of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers, but when written "Member" it shall mean that particular grade of membership denoted by clause 2.7 of this Constitution.

The "Objectives", "By-laws" and "Regulations" shall mean the objectives, by-laws and regulations approved by Council pursuant to the relevant portion of clause 3.11 of this Constitution. The term "electrical engineering" shall be deemed to be a collective term applicable to all fields of the discipline in which electrical science is applied in the service of mankind.

The term "Secretary" shall mean the person designated by Council to fulfil the duties and responsibilities assigned to this post in the By-laws, Regulations and Constitution.
