A two-day interactive course on the most useful perspectives, principles, tools, processes, examples and practices which are presented in an experiential manner providing a fresh approach to the practice of leadership and management within an engineering context which equips the practitioner with a raised awareness of his/her role, a raised awareness of his/her practices and the wherewithal to radically improve on those practices.
The method of instruction will include posed questions, power point presentations, one-on-one and group engagement, experiential learning and reflection. It will cover all the primary learning styles in order to engage all participants in a meaningful growth experience. A Learning Guide, Pre-course Notes and an exercise are sent to the delegates before the course. Further handouts and exercise sheets are provided during the course. DAVID RAMSAY BSc Eng (Civil) University of Cape Town (UCT) 1978, Master of Engineering Management UCT 2001, Diploma in Life & business Coaching – the Coaching Centre 2006. David has been responsible for numerous large water engineering projects in Cape Town, the most notable being the Riviersonderend/ Faure Water Scheme which won the SAICE Award for excellence in 1994. He has also held a number of senior engineering position in Cape Town, culminating in the Director of Water Services for the city of Cape Town in which he managed some 2500 staff and a budget of R1,5 bn. He left the City in 2005 to pursue consulting and on a part-time basis obtained a diploma in life and business coaching to expand his skills set and has since been involved in a diverse range of both consulting and organisational development appointments. He carried out consulting assignments involving infrastructure management and leadership for a number of clients, including the national Water Board in Sri Lanka (Post Tsunami support), Bloem Water (Via Aurecon), de Beers (via PWC), the City of Cape Town Electricity and Water Departments, the Vaal River Eastern Supply Project (via Aurecon) and is currently part of the Performance audit team for Johannesburg Water (through KPMG).
