COURSE OVERVIEW
Lighting design is a complex science involving many factors, each environment having its unique requirements. Optimising the lighting layout and selection of luminaries can reduce installation and maintenance costs, as well as power consumption resulting in significantly lower life cycle costs. Correct lighting design improves safety, reducing injuries and accidents which cause facility downtime. Good lighting also results in a pleasant work environment and increases productivity in offices, workshops, industrial process plants and mines. Various technologies are compared for economy and
performance in different application environments.
This workshop contains examples of the practical application of theory and calculations to design lighting layouts for various domains such as offices and control buildings with fluorescent lighting, floodlighting for car parks, sports fields and substation HV yards, workshops and shopping malls with high
bay lighting. Delegates will perform calculations and consult equipment specifications to complete several exercises during the workshop. The aim is to promote a sound understanding of the theory and practice of lighting design. What should be considered?
This course is an essential precursor to design optimisation using software programs.
