COURSE OVERVIEW
Due to physical limits on cable lengths for manufacturing and packaging, joints in cables become inevitable, particularly in the utility sector. The cables need to be also terminated at sending and receiving end equipment, a wide variety of them, in utility and industrial applications, and this calls for appropriate cable termination accessories. Cable terminations and joints form the weakest link in any distribution system. A failed joint in an underground distribution system is much more challenging to locate and repair than any similar problem in overhead distribution systems.
We will discuss the different types of cables, the properties of the insulation materials, installation, testing, and fault location in this course by looking at the fundamental aspects involved in this workshop.......
