
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR
SAIEE PRESIDENT’S AWARD
This prestigious Award recognises current major contributions in any sector of electrical, electronic, telecommunications and computer engineering in South Africa and is open to all living individual persons, but is not intended to recognise long or distinguished service. Nominations for the Award may be made by any individual person. A nominee shall not be his/her own nominator. If the nominator is not a Member of the SAIEE, the nomination shall be counter-signed by such a person.
ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
A member of the SAIEE who has energetically and voluntarily worked towards promoting electrical science and its applications for the benefit of SAIEE members and the Southern African community. Through his/her involvement in SAIEE affairs, he/she is recognised and honoured through the above award.
A short CV and motivation on this person to be nominated for this award are all we need. We appeal to all to nominate candidates for this award.
KEITH PLOWDEN YOUNG ACHIEVERS AWARD
The South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) has an annual award for the most outstanding young achiever of the year in the field of Electrical/electronic engineering.
Whether such a person works in a sizeable progressive company or organisation, or in a smaller dynamic one, is of no consequence – it is the spirit of achievement, creativity and leadership that count. These rare qualities must be recognised and nurtured. Innovative, entrepreneurial action and infectious enthusiasm to succeed are the qualities exhibited by young achievers.
Age: Up to and including 35 years of age during the stated calendar year of the award.
Eligibility: Open to all persons living in South Africa (Members and Non- Members) for significant current contributions in the electrical/electronic engineering field.
SAIEE ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE AWARD
The SAIEE Engineering Excellence Award recognises an SAIEE Member, Senior Member, Fellow or Council Member who has excelled in Electrical Engineering. He/she demonstrates above-average involvement in supporting the SAIEE with his/her aims and objectives as well in their capacity that supports and mentors colleagues. The candidate’s peers and competitive counterparts have high regard for the person’s integrity in all their engineering business dealings. This person is a role model of the highest calibre.
SAIEE WOMEN IN ENGINEERING AWARD
The SAIEE Women in Engineering Award recognises a female SAIEE Member, Senior Member, Fellow or Council Member who has excelled in Electrical Engineering. She demonstrates above-average involvement in supporting the SAIEE with her aims and objectives as well in her capacity that supports and mentors colleagues. Her peers and competitive counterparts have high regard for her integrity in all her engineering business dealings. This woman is a role model of the highest calibre.
SAIEE/IEEE JOINT DISTINGUISHED VOLUNTEER AWARD
The SAIEE - IEEE Joint Distinguished Volunteer Award was established in 2013 and promotes the spirit of volunteerism by recognizing a volunteer active in the IEEE, SAIEE or both organizations. The award criteria require that the volunteer has madea valuable contribution to the electrical engineering profession in South Africa and promotes the electrical/electronic engineering profession in South Africa within IEEE/SAIEE designated fields, or meaningfully contributes to one of the social challenges in South Africa through the application of electrical/electronic engineering.
