9 June 2025 | SAIEE representation as ICASA councillors

Another proud moment for SAIEE, with the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) announcing the new councillors on 3 June 2025. The new councillors will serve a four-year term. The chair of the SAIEE Computing Section, Dr Joshua Tshifhiwa Maumelaand Senior MemberAndrew Dibi Matseke were announced as new councillors. Theceremony was presided over by former acting High Court of South Africa judge Professor JCW van RooyenSC. We are honoured to have these esteemed individuals serve on the fully constituted council of nine members in line with the Electronic Communications Act. Dr Maumela is an AI and Economics specialist known for creating Africa’s first AI algorithm rooted in Ubuntu philosophy. Matseke is an experienced engineer and project manager with a strong track record in ICT and infrastructure delivery.

In a previous communication, it was an oversight not to announce the appointment of Pitso Sekhoto as a member of the ECSA 7th Term Council. Pitso is an active Gauteng Centre Committee member and a winner of the Keith Plowden Youth Achiever Award.

Our members are actively promoting the relevance of our institute by contributing to the development of South Africa.
